New research shows employees are happiest in family businesses

The Institute for Family Business (IFB) Research Foundation with UCG report - produced by Cass, Warwick and Birmingham Business Schools - finds that people working in family owned and managed businesses are more satisfied with their jobs giving these firms an advantage when recruiting and retaining staff. The UK's three million family businesses currently employ over nine million people and constitute 40% of total private sector employment.

To support their continued contributions to our economy and society, Dublin City University is establishing a Centre for Family Business as a global centre of excellence that will work directly with Irish family firms. 

The Centre will collaborate with their network of international business schools, and will, through a focused research agenda, develop and translate knowledge to enhance competitiveness of Irish family firms and offer insights into best practice of family firm management.

Bill Holohan, Holohan Solicitors receives Irish Law Award

Bill Holohan, Senior Partner and Founder of Holohan Solicitors has been awarded the Irish Law Award 2013 for “Mediation, Arbitration and Dispute Resolution Lawyer of the year 2013”.

In 2012, he was also awarded “Irish Mediator of the Year Award 2012” by Acquisition International Magazine. 

Accredited as a Mediator by both CEDR (the Centre for Effect of Dispute Resolution) and CIArb (the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators) he is the current Chairman of the Chartered Institute Special Interest Group on Mediation. A copy of his 2010 publication “ADR and Mediation in Ireland, 2010 and beyond” is available on request.
